Off Shed Phase 2 Commences Development

Off ShedRailway photographer Geoffrey King has two main strands to his website. He wanted a site to showcase his photographs on a railway theme. The Mainline Scene section is now fully operational, and work continues on phase 2 of the site, to populate the complimentary Heritage Steam section.

This form of user-amendable website has been developed by MockettMedia to facilitate additions and amendments by the user without having to involve the website designer with each item. In addition, the bi-partite web structure has been designed especially for my needs. The Content Management System is based on a series of easy to use menus and is most user-friendly.Geoffrey King, offshed.com

Facelift For Rugby Players

RugbyPix Original StyleRugbyPix New Style

Left, the old look and the new layout on right.

Rugbypix.com is a website presenting photos from Rugby’s Guinness Premiership and International tests. Each match has up to 20 photos to view, and there are full match and player details to be seen. This site has complex cross-linking, enabling visitors to quickly select photos from a particular match or team, or see all photos of their favourite player. An image search facility is included, along with frequently changing website news. A wallpaper download section allows visitors to save images to their desktop for use as their PC background, while a guestbook allows visitor feedback to be posted easily. Rugbypix has been online since May 2005, but it was in need of a fresh look, as well as tidying up some code. The new site is still written with ASP.Net, but is now fully Web-Standards compliant.

Very impressive website, fantastic pictures and stacks of information. Guestbook entry

Developers Unconference

barCampLondon3I recently attended the excellent BarCampLondon3 event, an international gathering of web designers and developers which took place at Google’s London offices. It provided a wonderful opportunity to meet old friends, make new ones, and attend some great sessions presented during the weekend.
