Scripting Enabled was a community-led conference which brought together people with various disabilities and developers who build websites. The aim was to get the users to talk directly with “techies” and highlight the problems which they face every day when using websites.
There were some inspirational presentations with subject matter varying from learning disabilities, phyiscal disabilities, dyslexia, blindness and more.
Altogether a great couple of days, which provided plenty of food for thought about the way we should design sites with users of all kinds in mind, and showing us that accessibility should not be a “bolt-on” afterthought, but included right from the start of the design process, something with which Mockett Mediawholeheartedly agrees.
